I think team dynamics have gotten more complicated than ever.
It’s not just about talent anymore. It’s about having the right people in the right seats, setting realistic expectations, and learning how to become the kind of leader people actually want to follow.
That’s where I come in.
If Olympic athletes hire coaches to break world records, the world’s top performing executives and teams lean on me and my company, Teams.Coach, to do the same. Not for a medal, but for growth, alignment, and performance that changes the trajectory of their business.
Here’s how it plays out in real life with the leaders I serve:
1. Greater Understanding
One of my favorite stories comes from a tech startup I work with. Their CEO was convinced he had a “lazy” director on his team. Every meeting ended with frustration, tension, and zero progress.
When we ran his team through our award-winning assessment dashboard, the truth came out. That director wasn’t lazy. He was wired completely differently. He processed information more slowly, but he brought depth and long-term strategy that the CEO desperately needed.
The CEO admitted, “I’ve been gaslighting him and myself. I thought he was underperforming when in reality he was just built differently.”
That shift—seeing the truth of how people are wired—changed their whole culture. Suddenly, daily insights from our automated coaching and communication platform gave them tactical tips on how to interact, assign projects, and actually get momentum.
No more guessing. No more gaslighting yourself into thinking you don’t have it all together. Just clarity and action.
2. 1:1 Coaching
Every week, I get on calls with leaders who are trying to dream bigger than they thought possible.
Take one executive from a healthcare company I coach. She came into our calls overwhelmed, convinced she was “just keeping things together” and barely making it through. Over time, our weekly conversations shifted her focus. She started to ask bigger questions: “What if I could not only survive this season, but build a structure that scales?”
She went from playing defense to playing offense. From managing chaos to leading with clarity.
That’s the point of coaching: you don’t have to be alone in figuring it out. You don’t have to keep making the same mistakes. You get someone who believes in you even when you don’t see the full picture yet—and who challenges you to become the leader your team needs.
3. Trusted Advisors
Probably my favorite role is when leaders call me before making a big hire.
I had an executive reach out just hours before sending an offer letter. “Michael, I think this person is good, but I can’t afford another misstep. What do you think?”
Because we have a hiring portal built into our system, I was able to run the candidate’s data, look at how they’d fit into the culture, and give him a clear picture: “She’ll thrive in this role, but you need to give her autonomy. If you micromanage, she’ll shut down.”
He hired her. She’s thriving. And that company avoided another costly turnover.
That’s the power of having a trusted advisor in your corner. You don’t go into relationships blind. You go in informed and equipped.
The Point
At the end of the day, whether it’s understanding your people, finding clarity in your own leadership, or making critical hiring decisions—this is what I do.
I serve as the coach, the advisor, and sometimes even the translator between how people are wired and how teams actually need to function.
And the leaders I work with? They’re not just surviving. They’re thriving.
Because when you have someone in your corner who can see the dynamics clearly, call out the blind spots, and give you a path forward—you don’t just play the game better. You change it.
